Milagros Hand

The hand is perhaps the oldest of all graphic symbols. The power and magic of touch are familiar to many cultures. This particular hand is adorned with milagros, the silver charms that represent different body parts or conditions that request healing or protection. This particular hand shows a heart, a pair of eyes, an arm, a leg, two kneeling figures, a bull, a baby, and three praying people. It forms a statement of desire, an autobiography of needs. We first encountered milagros in New Mexico and for that reason we have placed this powerful hand on a bed of posole (dried corn) surrounded by a wreath of red peppers. This Hand was brought to us from Santa Fe by Marianne Carroll.

The Hand is available in 8x10 framed print, T-shirt, candle and greeting card.
