Maneki Neko, the Beckoning Cat

Maneki Neko extends its paw to welcome customers to your business and abundance into your home. When placed in a store window, it is said to attract traffic and enhance prosperity. Originating in Japanese brothels, this "pussy cat" invites people in to spend their money. The tri-colored cat pictured here is the most common version, but other colored cats perform different functions. The black Maneki Neko dispels spiritual problems, the gold cat gives extra good fortune, the pink version helps in romantic matters, and the red cat is for good health. A comprehensive history and collection of legends can be found at www.manekinekoclub.com. We perched this cat in a forsythia bush in Riverside Park.

Available as framed 8x10 print, candle, T-shirt and greeting card.
