Lakshmi
Narayana
The
Hindu pantheon can be particularly complicated for the novice. The variety
of deities who share a multitude of names makes for some heady reading.
The late Carole Browne brought this statue back from India many years
ago.
I was unable to identify the lovely twosome until I contacted the helpful
staff at Butala Emporium in Queens, New York (www.indousplaza.com).
Now we can happily say that this is the Goddess of wealth Lakshmi with
her consort, Vishnu, God of wisdom. We brought them to Central Park on
a rare sunny day in May for this photo-shoot. We hope that they inspire
loving devotion, passionate desire, wealth and wisdom for couples. This
statue is from the collection of my esteemed benefactor Lynda Schroeder.
This image is available as 8x10 framed print, candle, t-shirt and greeting
card.
