Halloween
Some people would like to keep their Christmas trees up all year. Not
me. But the moment that Halloween decorations appear in shop windows (earlier
and earlier each year) I feel as if all is well with the world. As a child
I thought that Halloween was my birthday and that children dressed up
in costumes to celebrate with me. (I was off by 2 days...) The Witch and
Ghost pictured are beloved icons, my treasured childhood possesions. Halloween,
known as Samhain in the Celtic tradition, represents the beginning of
the new year, a unique point in time when the veil between the two worlds
is thin enough to penetrate.
